Taxi fare
Today, as stipulated by the Ministry of Transportation, the starting fare is 10.6 NIS.
There are two rates:
- Rate 1 Daylight hours
- Rare 2 Night time, Weekends and Holidays (25% higher).
Taxis can be:
- Flagged on the street.
- Ordered by phone (for an extra 3.00 NIS).
- Picked up at a taxi stand.
- Picked up at major hotels.
Useful tips: Many taxi or 'Monit' (as they're known in Israel) drivers, will offer you a fixed price for a single trip.
We suggest you insist on running the meter; the fixed price trip will likely cost you more.

Complaints against taxi drivers can be lodged with the Ministry of Tourism.
A complaint must include the taxi number printed on the side doors or on the illuminated roof sign.
